Media Archives Search & Retrieval Engine - A multinational company, leader in display chipsets for high-end televisions:

Overview: An multinational company who are leaders in display technology for high-end televisions needed a better, more efficient and scalable  solution to search and retrieve media streams from their geographically distributed huge repositories. The existing solution was very manual and as basic as having a shared excel sheet that contained the details of these media streams and their locations.

Our Solution: We studied the requirements and the actual info gathering process for these streams & usage scenarios by the internal development teams. Based on our findings we decided to build a web based solution using open source technology stacks. The application would allow the company to gather, input & store these media stream information in a structured manner. It would then allow the users to search these repositories through a single interface. 

Result: A simple, easy to use web application that allowed users to search for media streams through a single interface. The users had the option of either running a simple string based search or an advanced search using a combination of multiple media stream attributes. It also provided for the administrator to define new media stream attribute templates thus ensuring that the application was agnostic to the various types of media streams and was also scalable to meet future requirements. The application has been successfully deployed within the company and has been receiving very positive responses from all the users.
